Tools for Local Government
A number of tools are available to help cities and counties implement the District-wide Watershed Management Plan:
Georgia Stormwater Management Manual
The Georgia Stormwater Management Manual is a comprehensive document designed to guide government agencies and the development community on the control and management of stormwater runoff.
Volume 1, the Stormwater Policy Guidebook, is designed to provide guidance to Georgia communities on the basic principles of effective stormwater management.
Volume 2, the Technical Handbook, is an engineering manual for implementing stormwater management measures for new development and redevelopment. It is designed to provide the site designer or engineer, as well as the local plan reviewer or inspector, with the information required to effectively address and control both stormwater quality and quantity on a development site.
Stormwater Quality Site Development Review Tool
The Excel spreadsheet-based tool is a companion to the Georgia Stormwater Management Manual. This tool allows both developers and local government review staff to quickly evaluate the water quality performance of stormwater management plans for proposed land development projects. Standards and Methodologies for Surface Water Quality Monitoring
The legislation that created the Metropolitan North Georgia Water Planning District (Official Code of Georgia Annotated §12-5-574) charges the District with providing “appropriate standards and methodologies for monitoring water quality” to be included as part of the District-wide Watershed Management Plan. This document contains the standards and methodologies for surface water quality monitoring for communities in District. Download the Standards and Methodologies for Surface Water Quality Monitoring.
