Commercial Water Audits
Water Conservation Action No. 9 – Conduct commercial water audits.
The District’s Water Supply and Water Conservation Management Plan Water Conservation Action No. 9 requires water providers to offer commercial water audits to its customers. The assessment includes the development of a report that provides guidance on how to reduce water usage by outlining possible changes to processes and operations.
Industrial Commercial and Institutional (ICI) uses are variable and complex. A facility’s water use can be related to those they serve, such as number of hotel customers, students at a school or patients at a hospital. Different types of facilities will have different water-use characteristics and potential efficiencies; however, this may also vary within the same type of facility. Therefore, an on-site water audit of a facility provides a more accurate assessment than estimating efficiencies of certain types of facilities (Vickers).
