Basin Advisory Councils

The Basin Advisory Councils (BACs) provide input in the development of the Metro Water District’s comprehensive plans and policies which guide water resources management in the 15-county metro Atlanta region. Six separate BACs represent each of the major river basins within the planning region:

  • Chattahoochee River Basin
  • Coosa/Etowah River Basin
  • Flint River Basin
  • Lake Lanier Basin
  • Ocmulgee River Basin
  • Oconee River Basin
  • The Metro Water District uses adopted BAC Operating Procedures to manage the BAC process. These procedures help keep BAC membership diverse and balanced to ensure a variety of perspectives are represented in the planning process.
